How do you know you're an Amalfi Lemon?

Amalfi Coast Lemons is a living example why we should honor local tradition and preserve cultural identity through the production of food.
The Amalfi People are custodians of this land, which is protected by the UNESCO; this protection ensures a certain grace extended to the ancestors of these people.
You can feel it everywhere, not only the ancestors are respected, but it is extended to the elder for there knowledge and experience, it really make you feel good.
You eat them raw here with salt or sugar, only the fresh in think slices. The salt gets rid of the bitter taste and they really or quite palatable. I prefer salt than sugar but try both.
Everyday on the Amalfi Coast I was given a fresh lemon…
Ahhhh but – NOT ALL LEMONS ARE CREATED EQUAL:
The Amalfi lemon is very lucky as is has an IGP protection founded in 2002. (Protected Geographical Indication – that guarantees the origin and quality of the product.
Which Are: Medium large with no less that 100grams, long and elliptic shape, big and pointed, with a medium thick, warty-smooth, light –yellow skin.
The yellow part of the skin is rich in essential oils and with intense and strong perfume and aroma. The centre is made of 8-9 segments, taste is pleasantly bitter, their leaves oblong and moderately large. The fruit has got a low number of seeds and an abundant and high tart juice and straw yellow color….
Very similar characteristics are the ones described by the botanist G.B. Ferrari in 1646 – this testifies the centuries old presence of this typical fruit of the Coast.
